Due to RL constraints and a quiet muse, Candice is going RP only. I've pulled her from the couple of prompt communities she was in, and while I may post the occasional ficlet or meme that interests her here, she won't be responding to the prompts on a regular basis anymore. I don't really have the time to keep up the way I should and there are louder voices in my head at the moment that are screaming to be heard, so -- Candice's been pushed to the background a bit. Plus, she's never really been the prompt type anyway.

If she comes back, better and louder than she was before, I'll maybe pick her up and put her into some communities again, but otherwise, she'll only be available for RP.

If you would like to RP with Candice, don't hesitate to poke me -- I'm sure she'd love to feel useful.

[Not binding on any Bob. Just an NPC!Bob, as Candice doesn’t have one that she interacts with on a regular basis.]

“I hate to seem ungrateful, but I’m not quite getting how this assignment works.” Candice looked up at Bob like he had grown two heads, and for all intents and purposes, she might as well have given them to him. Because what he was telling her to do? Wasn’t making a lick of sense. Granted, it was a big assignment—huge for that matter, but it still wasn’t making any sense.

“I thought it was relatively straight forward, Candice,” Bob began slowly, giving her that patronizing look that she hated with a firey passion. “Can I ask what concept you’re not grasping?”

“How ‘bout the part where I save Sylar?” she said, glaring back at him. “And we are talking about the same Sylar, right? The serial killer? The one who eats people’s brains?”

“We need him.”

“You need him,” she said, her jaw dropping slightly as she tilted her head to the side. “Can I ask why or is that one of those things that’s above my pay grade?” And she was really hoping that for his sake, he wasn’t going to say it was. Because hey, she loved her job, but she wasn’t about to go and get killed for it. Not unless he can guarantee her safety in some way.

Bob looked at her for a moment, and she continued to feed him back the same skeptical look she had been giving him for a while. She wasn’t grasping the concept, sorry—as far as she was concerned, Bob Bishop could take this assignment and shove it, because a) she worked for Linderman at the moment, and b) she wasn’t about to get herself killed for this Company quite yet. Again—some kind of guarantee that she wasn’t going to wind up six feet under, and she would take the assignment without another thought. But she was kind of stuck on the whole ‘I don’t want to wind up dead’ thing.

“In this branch of the company, we’ve been experimenting on a strain of the Shanti virus, looking for one that will depower potentially dangerous people, yet not kill them. We want to experiment on Sylar to see if it works.”

“And you want me to just fetch him for you?” Candice sighed. She was still highly skeptical about this. “Think he’s just going to come with me willingly to lose all his powers and brain eating abilities?”

Bob was trying not to roll his eyes. She could tell through the strained expression on his face, as he reached into his desk and tossed out a comic book, letting it land on the desk directly in front of her. She arched an eyebrow at him, before picking it up and flipping through it. “You’re getting your information from a comic book?” she said, her tone growing even more skeptical by the second.

“Flip to the back panel.”

Candice did as she was told, scanning her way down the page until she saw one of the ending scenes, Sylar with a samurai sword sticking through his chest, and a small Asian looking dude the one wielding it.

“So a comic book says that this Asian geekboy here is going to kill Sylar, and you’re taking it as good authority?”

“The comic was drawn by Isaac Mendez,” Bob replied slowly. “If I remember correctly, you met him? The painter who can paint the future?”

“You mean the painter who shot his girlfriend.”

This time Bob did roll his eyes. “Sylar killed him, but not before he could finish this. Hiro is going to stab Sylar, and after he does, I need you to bring him to us.”

“Wait, wait, wait—you want me to save Sylar’s life,” Candice replied, almost glaring at him as she did. “All for the sake of your little experiment?”

“Is that going to be too hard for you, Candice?” Bob asked. “Or would you like to be relieved of your services and have someone else take the job for you? I’m sure Elle, or one of the other loyal employees here would love to have a crack at this assignment.”

Candice hesitated only for a moment before shaking her head no. “Don’t worry about it, boss. I’ll get you your psychopath.” Sure—there was no guarantee that she would walk out unscathed on this one. But she knew for a fact that people who were let go from the company, weren’t exactly seen around town afterwards.

She got up with the file he had given her, before making her way out into the hallway. She was not happy about this—not at all. She certainly wasn’t getting paid enough for this. But getting paid shit was better than nothing. She made her way through the hallways, and once she was a good distance from Bob’s office, her phone rang.

She frowned slightly, as the number wasn’t one she recognized, but she picked it up anyway, pausing as she was walking in order to look around her, trying to see what was going on. “Yeah?”

“Candice Wilmer?”

“Who wants to know?” The voice wasn’t one she recognized right off the bat, but there was something familiar about it—like she’d heard it before somewhere.

“I have an offer for you—regarding your newest assignment involving Sylar.”

875 words

There was just something about them—all the false happiness, pastel colored decorations, brides from hell—she just didn’t really see what made them fun. Plus the food was crap. So why the human race decided to subject themselves to these ridiculous ceremonies time after time, again and again, and more people didn’t just elope in Vegas was beyond her.

However, that didn’t mean that weddings weren’t fun to crash.

Especially the ones with the real Bridezillas. Those were almost certainly guaranteed to be a good time. The ones who were the most demanding for a day of perfection were usually the ones that got pissed off the easiest, and Candice was usually more than willing to help them get there. This particular wedding she happened to stumble into was a proverbial gold mine.

Generally speaking, she would slip in to the reception, get the gauge of the wedding for about five minutes, then decide whether or not she should stick around. However, for this particular celebration, she didn’t even have to stay two seconds to see that she had reached the ultimate wedding to crash.

First of all, the bride was blond, which was always a step in the right direction. When Candice—or rather “Michelle,” as she was now a redhead for the evening—had arrived and slipped her way in, she was currently in the corner berating the flower girl for not dropping enough petals as she made her way down the aisle. Her groom was looking rather exasperated, and the bridesmaids were looking pissed. A few drinks for the bridesmaids later, and the worn out girls were all too willing to enlighten Michelle on the pain and suffering they had endured for the past few months. For Michelle, it was all to clear on the fact that this woman needed to be taken down a peg.

Like, now.

It was all a matter of waiting for the opportune moment. She could do her usual gags—pulling out the rather intoxicated guest, or forcing the bride to ‘rip’ her dress on the dance floor, but this girl was special. She needed something big. She needed something fantastic. She needed to wait till the kids went home, to sleep, whatever the case may be. Besides, she still needed time to think. She wanted this to be perfect—in fact, anything less that perfection would be more than that bitch deserved in her opinion. She wanted things to go wrong spectacularly. And she wasn’t exactly sure how she was going to do that—

—until she saw the cake. And then the wheels started turning.

The cake got wheeled out a few hours into the reception, and as far as the waiters and chefs were concerned, it was perfect, just the way she had ordered it. But when it was rolled in front of the loving couple and the cameras, it was looking very, very different from what the bride had expected.

The little bride that sat on top of the cake was frozen in a pushing motion, and her groom had apparently tumbled down the side of the cake in a very bloody fall. Everyone just stared at the cake in shock, and absolutely silence filled the room, and everyone waited while the bride’s face turned red, wondering what exactly she was going to say or do. Michelle thought her head was going to explode, and in some senses it either did, or the bride wished it had.

Either way, it was the bridal meltdown for the ages, and it was very nice to see the Queen of the Bridezillas actually get what she deserved.

614 words

Okay, so -- over the past month I've been doing some thinking about the whole psychotic thing. I came to the realization that I really don't want people thinking of me in that way, so I decided to get help and see where my issues are. It took some time, and a lot of pride swallowing, but I eventually enlisted the help of a shrink for counseling and all that shit.

So, I went to the Doc, and he said that the root of why I may feel the way I do about people is that I have a lot of repressed anger issues, and I've never really had anyone who I can really talk to. He said it might be helpful to have me start talking to the people currently in my life about who I am and where I came from, no illusions, no smoke and mirrors. Just me.

Look, this is really hard for me alright, and I know that most of us aren't exactly the best of friends, but -- you're the closest I've got, okay? So just let me do this.

As I'm sure you all probably know, my name isn't really Candice.

SUCKERS!!!!!

APRIL FOOLS!!!!

You know, it felt really good to get all that off my chest.

What are five ideas/concepts/etc you keep in mind while writing your character that you believe are essential to accurately depicting them? Why did you choose them? How do they relate to the character’s over all persona?

I figured while Candice is feeling uppity and chatty, I'd do this now. This also meshes the verses a bit, but it works. I think.

1. Candice is a bitch. In the "I'll get you before you get me" kind of way. She doesn't like being one-upped, she doesn't like being stabbed in the back, so she'll often strike before she can be struck at. She's not loyal to anyone but herself unless you've paid or earned hers in some way and trust me, earning it doesn't happen often. It's also the reason why she doesn't have a lot of friends, but she tells me she's happier that way. Less people <s>for her to hurt</s> to screw her over.

2. And while we're on that point, the only person she's absolutely loyal to, no strings attached, is Micah. Why? Because Micah was nice to her when he had absolutely no reason to be. That and she likes kids under the age of thirteen (once they pass that, they enter the realm of whiney brats and she wants nothing to do with them). She won't screw with kids because she knows it's not their fault the world is fucked up. So she goes after their parents instead.

3. Candice is asexual. She's not opposed to using sex as a weapon, mostly because she knows it works, but as in romantic relationships, sex for sex's sake, all that other fun stuff? She's really not interested. I have yet to get to the root of whether that's because her self-worth is nil or she just genuinely doesn't have a sex drive, but she'd rather mindfuck you than actually fuck you -- her words, not mine.

4. Candice does have a conscience. She just doesn't use it often. Death/murder/killing doesn't really sit right with her. Vegetative states, yes. Actual death -- not so much. And she really only tries to mess with people to that extent when they deserve it. (Eden!Candice, however, has kind of abandoned that principle, because the alternative was just too much fun.) Harmless little illusions when they annoy her -- yes. She gets there rather easily. However when it comes to the big my-victim-may-not-come-back-from-this stuff, it takes a lot for her to really get there.

5. Aside from her illusions, Candice is not a big fan of herself. Which is, in part, why she hides behind them so much. With her illusions, she can be anyone she wants. When she's herself -- she's nothing, or at least that's how she feels that she is. She's only really had one friend as Betty, and she accidentally caused his death. It's somehow gotten into her head that that was a sign, somehow, and obviously who she is, isn't good enough. She has walls higher than the Great Wall trying to keep people from seeing who she really is, and the poor girl is in desperate need of a shrink, but for right now -- she's making due.

So the whole sleeping in coffins, drinking human blood, “vampire” scene? Wasn’t really for her. The minute she walked into the hotel room, the first words out of her mouth were probably something along the lines of ‘What the fuck is this?’ but that only earned her a glare from her handler and was followed by an eye roll. The guy clearly wasn’t looking to take any shit from her, but he had to realize that she was new at this and wasn’t used to walking into a hotel room and finding coffins to sleep in, instead of beds like normal people. Not that she was really all that normal herself, and she would admit, she did dabble in the goth scene when she was in high school—her way of rebelling and making her own statement, but she never went that far for one reason, and one reason only.

The idea of people actually sleeping in coffins? Kind of freaked her out a bit.

And now that she was going to be forced to actually do it? Let’s just say she was very much not in favor of that particular scenario. And her handler? Clearly didn’t know who he was dealing with.

So here’s the deal: apparently the Company wasn’t the only set of freaks out there. There were groups all over the world who were trying to get a better handle on the next step in human evolution. The Company just happened to be the biggest one, and certainly the most ruthless, thanks to the Great Bald One. Most of the other factions were a bit more friendly—think less abduction, more friendly conversation.

And hey, after the hell she went through in Mexico, Candice was all for friendly conversation. So when a man in a relatively decent suit approached her and helped her cross the border, she was willing to sit down and talk to him about her “special gift” and learning out to use it, carefully leaving out the fact that she had mastered that particular skill a long time ago. All of that talking had led to her being where she was now—in Berlin, about to do some more talking with a German kid who had developed a bit of a problem with staying in a solid state of being, and—more to the point—in the mysterious hotel that enjoyed setting up it’s rooms like coffins and vampires with a bit of a taste for the gauze and bleh of the eighties. It was disgusting.

She may have thrown up in her mouth a little.

But that was all besides the point, because the disgust aimed towards the room quickly subsided when she realized how much fun she could have. Her mind flashed back to the cheesy and stupid vampire movies she had watched as a child, but she knew she could be twice as realistic and just as scary. Her handler wasn’t going to know what hit him.

Oh, yeah, she grinned to herself. This is gonna be fun.

521 words
